The Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival 2024 in Ottawa, Canada, is a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture and heritage, taking place from June 21 to June 23 at Mādahòkì Farm. Day-by-Day Breakdown of the 2024 Program:
June 19: Education Day at the Canadian Museum of History, where teachers, students, and homeschool groups can enjoy complimentary Indigenous programming.
June 21: National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration, starting with a Traditional Welcome Ceremony, followed by performances by the World Hoop Dance Champion and Métis dancers, Sunsdram Inuit throat singers, and more. The day kicks off at 1 pm and concludes at about 10pm (do not miss the Glow in the Dark Pow Wow featuring DJ Shub).
June 22: The vibrant Competition Pow Wow continues, showcasing drummers and dancers across North America competing for over $75,000 in prizes. The day features traditional Inuit games and more live performances from 10:30 am up to 7:30 pm.
June 23: For those who missed previous activities, the festival continues with a final day of cultural experiences from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
