When: September 5–6, 2025
Where: French River Provincial Park Pow Wow Grounds, Ontario
This September, the French River Pow Wow will return for its 18th annual celebration—a two-day gathering of culture, song, and ceremony set within the natural beauty of French River Provincial Park. Taking place on September 5 and 6, 2025, the pow wow welcomes families, dancers, drummers, elders, and visitors to honour the theme “Honouring the Fire.”
More than just an event, the French River Pow Wow is a sacred space of renewal where Nation teachings, traditional knowledge, and community spirit are carried forward. Rooted in history and guided by ancestral ways, the gathering reminds us of the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples across Ontario. It is a family-friendly, alcohol-free celebration that welcomes everyone with open hearts, providing cultural resources and opportunities to learn.
About the French River Pow Wow
Since its beginning, the French River Pow Wow has become a respected annual gathering in northeastern Ontario. Each year, it provides a cultural space where songs are sung, stories are shared, and the sacred fire is lit in honour of tradition. The event also fosters intergenerational connections—passing forward the teachings of Elders while giving youth a place to embrace their heritage through dance, music, and ceremony.
This year’s gathering begins Friday, September 5, with medicine preparation and teachings at 12:00 PM and lighting of the Sacred Fire at 3:00 PM. On Saturday, September 6, the Grand Entry begins at 12:30 PM. Admission is free and open to all.
